Pirates off the coastline of Nigeria have abducted 3 team participants from a dredger after a harmful exchange of shooting with the ship’s begun protection group, maritime danger company Dryad Global reports.

According to Dryad, the strike happened January second versus the Nigerian- flagged receptacle dredger Ambika situated around 3 maritime miles from the Ramos River, near the Forcados oil terminal.

Reports show that pirates taken part in a hefty firefight with begun protection employees prior to boarding the vessel. As an outcome, it is reported that 4 armed army employees have actually been eliminated and also 2 others hurt.

Three of the dredger’s 8 team participants have actually been reported abducted, Dryad states.

Dryad states the strike notes the initial overseas occurrence near the mouth of the Ramos River because November 2018 when a vessel was bombarded.

In December, the International Chamber of Commerce’s International Maritime Bureau (IMB) Piracy Reporting Centre elevated issues over what it claimed was an extraordinary degree of team kidnappings in the Gulf of Guinea area, and also suggested ships to be additional vigilant when transiting with the area.

The IMB claimed current occurrences, in which a consolidated 39 seafarers were abducted, emphasize the major acceleration in the kidnapping of seafarers for ransom money in the Gulf of Guinea.

“Our main concern is for the safety of the crew and the quick and safe return of the kidnapped seafarers,” claimed IMB Assistant Director Cyrus Mody.

“IMB calls for more support from coastal countries in the Region, to provide a meaningful response, including, investigating the gangs who carry out the kidnappings and ultimately holding them to account under law,” Mody included.
