Situational Awareness Taken To A New Level With Launch Of S.P.E.C.S Camera System

Wärtsilä Voyage, component of the innovation team Wärtsilä, introduces the launch of its Smart Panoramic Edge Camera System (S.P.E.C.S). Designed to considerably boost aquatic safety and security, it’s a system that supplies 360 level situational recognition, streamed straight to the bridge in real-time.

In enhancement to removing unseen areas with electronic breathtaking video cameras situated around the vessel, S.P.E.C.S can additionally offer a birds-eye sight of the ship as well as its environments, which is a considerable benefit when docking. The system’s video cameras offer an adjusted array grid around the vessel to provide specific dimension of ranges. Furthermore, it supplies an enhanced fact sight by linking to the navigating system to aid in determining targets as well as possible threats.

“Safety is of increasing concern in today’s maritime environment. Vessels have become ever larger in size, and the volume of sea traffic is greater than ever before. With S.P.E.C.S, the bridge crew has a perfect view of what’s going on around the ship at all times. This takes situational awareness to a completely new level, and greatly reduces the risk of accidents and costly damage,” claims Sasha Heriot, Head of Product, Assistance Systems, Wärtsilä Voyage.

Thanks fully sight– without unseen areas– that it supplies, the S.P.E.C.S system resolves difficulties such as the identifying of little vessels, the surveillance of pull procedures, or the possible mistakes of hand-operated docking. By removing this unpredictability as well as giving nearly ideal situational recognition, S.P.E.C.S significantly minimizes threats both in hectic harbours as well as in constrained waters.

Multiple screen as well as workstation choices include a specialized software especially optimized for the equipment. The video camera shells are made to manage the toughest aquatic problems, as well as the system is not dependent on the worldwide navigating satellite system (GNSS).

Wärtsilä Voyage will certainly be organizing an in-person launch occasion on the 27th of April at the Seatrade Cruise Global seminar being kept in Miami, Florida, cubicle 3432.
