Havyard to Design Two Cargo Ships for Greenland’s Royal Arctic Line

Norwegian ship developer Havyard Design & & Solutions has actually been granted an agreement to both brand-new freight vessels for Greenland’s special delivery firm Royal Arctic Line.

The vessels will certainly be developed to deliver temperature-controlled containers as well as basic freight in northwest Greenland.

Royal Arctic Line, which is wholly-owned by the Government of Greenland, holds a monolopy over all seaborne products delivered to as well as from as well as within Greenland.

The 2 freight ships will certainly be developed at Zamakona Yards in Spain as well as are set up for shipment in 2020.

The vessels will certainly be 67 meters in size as well as have complete freight ability of 60 containers or 500 pallets. They will certainly be developed with 4 freight holds, all with various temperature level areas from refrigeration at -27 ° C to cooling down at +4 ° C, Havyard states.

“The two vessels will operate in northwest Greenland, which makes stringent requirements of the vessels’ design, as they will operate in a rough climate, sail in and out of shallow ports, meet ice class requirements and comply with the Polar Code,” Havyard stated in a declaration.

The newbuilds are planned to change the Royal Arctic Line vessels Pajuttaat as well as Vestlandia, which were integrated in 1979 as well as 1983, specifically.

“Our partnership with Royal Arctic Line A/S has actually been really rewarding, as well as there’s a likelihood that Havyard will certainly obtain even more chances in this section,’ states Havyard’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane.
