Norway- based H2Carrier revealed it has actually authorized a letter of intent (LOI) with Greenland- based Anori to create the very first industrial wind ranch in Greenland with succeeding manufacturing and also export of environment-friendly ammonia.

The wind ranch is predicted to consist of 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable resource which will provide power to H2Carrier’s drifting manufacturing vessel for hydrogen and also environment-friendly ammonia. Green ammonia will certainly be saved in storage tanks onboard the vessel, after that exported to smaller sized delivery vessels and also reached the global market.

H2Carrier’s exclusive style for a vessel that generates, shops and also exports environment-friendly ammonia, the P2XFloater, is stated to be the very first of its kind to be released on an international basis efficient in creating hydrogen and also ammonia on a commercial range.

Developed together with Norwegian design companies, the P2XFloater style is based upon tested innovations from drifting manufacturing of oil and also gas (FPSOs- drifting manufacturing, storage space and also offloading) in mix with control systems which enhance sustainable power, electrolyzers and also the Haber-Bosch- procedure for manufacturing of ammonia. H2Carrier intends to develop, own/lease and also run a fleet of P2XFloaters on PtX tasks internationally.

Chief Executive Officer Mårten Lunde in H2Carrier, stated, “All industrial use of ammonia at present is associated with significant emissions of CO2. By building on established and proven technologies with a strong safety track record from oil and gas we have developed zero carbon solutions for ammonia which is a key ingredient in agriculture and the food industry. Greenland is uniquely positioned to take a leading role internationally for supply of green ammonia and locally, a significant industrial project of this magnitude will be important to the Greenland society by way of employment opportunities and positive economic impact.”

“At present, less than 1% of the global ammonia consumption globally is produced from renewable energy. We need to turn this around to come closer to 100% as soon as possible in order to reach the targets of the Paris agreement,” stated Nicolai Fossar Fabritius, the Chairman of Anori, that before co-founding the firm functioned a number of years as a supervisor of the Danish wind generator maker Vestas.

The CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Palle Christiansen in Anori stated, “We are proud to cooperate with H2Carrier and we all feel humble when embarking on this significant project which has a huge export potential for Greenland” and also includes that “Greenland is well positioned to realize such a project. We have space and such a project will not prevent other activities or projects. Greenland as attractive wind resources and ample access to clean water. Clients are based internationally and Greenland will benefit from new employment and export revenues. This is a win/win project-  from the climate to the treasure.”

Lunde said, “The ingenious P2XFloater style stands for an expense and also time reliable and also versatile service for manufacturing of environment-friendly ammonia in a commercial range at an affordable rate. The need for environment-friendly ammonia is swiftly enhancing as a result of the commercial decarbonization. This is an eye-catching task at the right area at the correct time.”
