Iranian Supertanker Collides With Giant MSC Boxship in Singapore Strait– Incident Photos

An Iranian Very Large Crude Carrier and a big containership clashed in the active Singapore Strait late Wednesday evening, triggering damages to both ships however the good news is no injuries or records of significant contamination.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore states it was informed right before twelve o’clock at night that the VLCC Dream II and the MSC Alexandra containership had actually clashed in the Singapore Strait regarding 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) southeast of Sebarok Island.

The Dream II is possessed by Iran’s state-owned National Iranian Tanker Company

The supertanker suffered damages to its bow in the accident. The MSC Alexandra took the hit at its port quarter, triggering a gigantic opening and the loss of containers too far. The MPA claimed that before the accident its Port Operations Control Centre informed the Masters of both vessels of the threat of accident. An AIS entertainment reveals the vessels as they clashed:

MSC Alexandra reported that 10 vacant containers dropped too far throughout the event, consisting of 4 which dropped onto the deck of VLCC. The MPA claimed it promptly provided navigating program to caution vessels of the visibility of drifting containers at the event website, while releasing study and salvage groups to recuperate the containers.

There were no injuries or oil contamination reported.

MT Dream II

The 319,999 DWT Dream II (previously called Danesh) is possessed by Iran’s National Iranian Tanker Company and was integrated in 2008.

The MSC Alexandra is possessed by Geneva, Switzerland- based Mediterranean Shipping Company and was integrated in 2010. The vessel has a TEU ability of 13,998 and gauges virtually 396 meters in size. AIS information reveals the ship had actually simply left Singapore for Chiwan,China

Both vessels are Panama- flagged.
