Ship Photos of the Day – Ex-HMS Endurance Departs Portsmouth for the Breakers
The ex-HMS Endurance was towed out of Portsmouth Harbour one ultimate time Wednesday headed for the breakers in Turkey.
The Endurance is an icebreaker that was in service with the Royal Navy ice patrol from 1991 till 2008 when it suffered a significant flood off the coast of South America. After an extended debate over the destiny of the vessel, it was finally offered for scrap in 2013.
