Bollinger delivers 52nd FRC to Coast Guard

The USCGC Maurice Jester would be the third of six FRCs to be homeported in Sector Boston

Bollinger Shipyards LLC has delivered the USCGC Maurice Jester to the U.S. Coast Guard in Key West, Fla. This is the 178th vessel Bollinger has delivered to the U.S. Coast Guard over a 35-year interval and the 52nd Fast Response Cutter (“FRC”) delivered beneath the present program.

The USCGC Maurice Jester would be the third of six FRCs to be homeported in Sector Boston, which is s accountable for coastal security, safety, and environmental safety from the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border southward to Plymouth, Massachusetts out to 200 nautical miles offshore.

Coast Guard hero

Each FRC is known as for an enlisted Coast Guard hero who distinguished themselves within the line of obligation. Maurice Jester enlisted within the Coast Guard as a Surfman in 1917, working his method as much as Chief Boatswain’s Mate by 1935 whereas serving on 5 cutters. Commissioned as a Lieutenant and promoted to Lieutenant Commander, he was the primary Coast Guardsman to earn the Navy Cross in World War II, and the primary Coast Guard Officer to obtain the award for a fight motion in direct confrontation with enemy forces.
