JANUARY 8, 2014 — Donjon-SMIT and the Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) have entered a cooperative alliance.

This alliance, whereas it might probably help each tank and non-tank vessel house owners, will embody the flexibility of non-tank vessel house owners to determine their pre-arranged agreements with each Donjon-SMIT and MSRC, required beneath current NTVRP rules by January 30,, 2014 by enrollment linkages on both firm’s web site, in addition to cooperation between the 2 corporations within the occasion of a spill response or salvage/firefighting incident.

“We are very excited about this alliance and the enhanced services it will allow us to offer our customers,” Donjon-SMIT President Raymond Lord stated. “To have an alliance with MSRC, the largest, dedicated oil spill and emergency response organization in the United States, is a tremendous opportunity that will result in our being able to offer the best, most robust and state-of-the-art resources for marine salvage and oil spill response in the nation.”

MSRC President and CEO Steve Benz stated, “Often times in a shipping event, a spill response or the threat of a spill response is closely associated with a potential salvage and firefighting challenge. Shipping customers of both MSRC and Donjon-SMIT will have the benefit of knowing that between the two companies the best and most efficient resources will be determined to make for a successful response.”

While this cooperative alliance will facilitate and help prospects of each organizations in operations in addition to compliance with OPA-90, there isn’t a exclusivity requiring prospects of both group to contract solely with the opposite. Both Donjon-SMIT and MSRC say that they acknowledge that operational decisions and relationships might influence selections on OPA-90 contracting.

The Marine Spill Response Corporation is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO) shaped in 1990 to supply oil spill response providers and mitigate harm to the surroundings. MSRC supplies marine oil and oil-related OPA 90 associated spill response and clean-up providers to organizations concerned within the dealing with and transport of oil and different substances. An intensive stock of response gear in its arsenal is saved and maintained at MSRC’s pre-positioned gear websites throughout the U.S. MSRC’s capabilities are augmented by its Spill Team Area Responders (STARs) contractor community. This nationwide community consists of over 100 corporations at over 200 areas. MSRC is funded solely by the Marine Preservation Association (MPA). MPA is comprised of corporations working within the petroleum, power and associated transportation industries. This consists of lots of the largest oil and fuel corporations, and their associated transport corporations, on this planet. For extra data on MSRC, go to www.msrc.org.

Donjon-SMIT is a supplier of OPA-90 maritime vessel emergency response providers through which the greater than 200 years of company experience of Donjon Marine and SMIT Salvage is mixed. The three way partnership supplies marine salvage, lightering and firefighting providers for compliance and response associated to OPA-90 necessities.
