Integrated Wind Solutions (IWS) introduced its IWS Fleet subsidiary has taken supply of the brand new commissioning service operations vessel (CSOV) IWS Skywalker from shipbuilder China Merchants Industry Holdings Co., Ltd. (CMI).
After transit to Europe, the vessel will begin the primary out of three constitution contracts on the world’s largest offshore wind farm—Dogger Bank, within the U.S.—within the first quarter of 2024.
The purpose-built IWS Skywalker is the primary of a sequence of six similar sister vessels, with the remaining 5 vessels scheduled for supply in 2024 and 2025.
The Kongsberg Maritime-designed vessels are outfitted with 3D compensated gangway and crane methods.
The hybrid-powered vessels will likely be among the many first vessels within the business able to zero-emission operations. IWS famous the vessels have a number of “industry firsts”, akin to the most important battery packs within the business with photo voltaic panels for added charging, and a novel hull and propulsion design that will increase operability and reduces emissions. The vessels are the primary within the business to have the “DNV SILENT” notation, which focuses on minimizing the affect on marine life beneath water.
