New offshore wind sector participant opts for Kongsberg Maritime CSOV design

The CSOVs shall be constructed to Kongsberg Maritime’s UT 5519 HL design

Kongsberg Maritime has gained a NOK 300 million (about $30 million) contract with Pelagic Wind Services to produce superior vessel design and tools for 2 new Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) on order at Cochin Shipyard in India. The CSOVs are being constructed beneath a $350 million “2+2+2” contract positioned on the shipyard earlier this month by Cyprus-based various funding fund supervisor H.M. Pelagic Partners Ltd in reference to the launch of its new Pelagic Wind Fund.

Pelagic Wind Services has been established because the unique industrial and technical supervisor for the fleet.

The CSOVs shall be constructed to Kongsberg Maritime’s UT 5519 HL design, which has been upgraded to supply the best stage of operability and security, whereas reducing gasoline consumption and sustaining glorious seakeeping properties. The new vessels will be capable of function safely and effectively in any state of affairs with the bottom attainable environmental footprint. They are additionally designed with an emphasis on security, consolation and wellbeing for crew and technicians, with excellent lodging situations.

HYBRID-PROPULSION

These improvements’ environmental and operational advantages embrace the opportunity of conducting port operations with out the necessity for diesel engines.

“This contract marks Kongsberg Maritime’s strong position in the Offshore Wind market and joins a series of contracts already awarded in this segment,” says Per Ståle Nykrem, gross sales director for ship design within the renewable power section at Kongsberg Maritime. “Our new UT 5519 HL design, and the comprehensive equipment package we have devised for these vessels, demonstrates how much thought and effort we devote to facilitating and encouraging sustainable marine operations.”

The vessels shall be delivered to Pelagic Wind Services in 2025.
