Bollinger completes acquisition of ST Engineering’s Mississippi shipyards

Bollinger Shipyards, the biggest privately-owned and operated shipbuilder within the United States, in the present day introduced that it has accomplished its acquisition of VT Halter Marine, Inc. and ST Engineering Halter Marine Offshore (STEHMO) from Singapore Technologies Engineering.

The acquisition contains 378 acres comprising two shipyards in Pascagoula and two dormant yards north of Pascagoula. The newly acquired yards have been renamed Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding and Bollinger Mississippi Repair.

The Pascagoula amenities are strategically positioned with direct, deep-water entry to the Gulf of Mexico and homes company workplace area, engineering, fabrication, warehousing and a international commerce zone. The shipyard consists of 225,000 sq. ft of coated manufacturing space in the primary fabrication meeting buildings. The facility is able to producing Panamax-sized vessels as much as 50,000 DWT and options an expanded 225.6 meter (740 foot) tilt-beam launch system.

By combining our skilled workforces in Louisiana and Mississippi, I know that there’s no better team in the shipbuilding industry to take on the largest, most complex projects.”

Notably, all ongoing applications at VT Halter Marine and STEHMO had been conveyed with the transaction, together with the Polar Security Cutter (PSC) program for the U.S. Coast Guard and the Auxiliary Personnel Lighter-Small (APL(S)) program for the U.S. Navy. Those applications will proceed to be constructed at Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding.

Bollinger says the addition of the newly acquired yards is strategic because it additional strengthens the corporate’s place within the trade and U.S. protection industrial base by rising capability and footprint, bettering efficiencies, enhancing economies of scale, and constructing a bigger expert workforce, together with elevated engineering capability. It additionally brings expanded capabilities for future applications, together with an ACAT I program.

Bollinger Mississippi Repair presents a full suite of restore providers to prospects, together with ship restore and conversion, drydocking, rig restore, fabrication, new building and ancillary providers. The Bollinger Mississippi staff can execute initiatives from easy to essentially the most advanced.
