The U.S. Coast Guard assisted an offshore provide ship named Sea Falcon that reported it was taking over water whereas crusing within the Caribbean. The vessel was roughly 22 nautical miles south of Puerto Rico when the decision for help was obtained late on Friday, May 24. The Sea Falcon was touring to Tortola, British Virgin Islands when the captain reported they found a crack within the vessel’s hull. The estimated fee of flooding the USCG stories was roughly 300 gallons per minute.

 

 

While calling for vessels within the space to help, the USCG additionally dispatched an MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter.

Reaching the vessel, the Coast Guard put a rescue swimmer aboard the Sea Falcon to evaluate the state of affairs. The rescue swimmer confirmed roughly three inches of water within the engine room on account of a three-inch crack within the vessel’s hull. 

To support with the state of affairs, the Coast Guard lowered an extra pump to the vessel from the helicopter. They assisted in getting the pumping operation and the rescue swimmer confirmed the water stage had decreased to about two inches earlier than leaving the vessel.

The rescue swimmer was recovered by the aircrew and the Coast Guard helicopter returned to Air Station Borinquen. The Sea Falcon with the help was capable of proceed to Tortola. She tied up at roughly 11:48 a.m. Saturday within the British Virgin Islands.
