American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) has employed Joel Gard as senior vp of its newly established Interchange & Logistics enterprise unit.

With the addition of the brand new unit, ACBL now includes three Strategic Business Units (SBUs):

  • Dry Cargo
  • Liquid Cargo
  • Interchange & Logistics

A veteran of the transportation and provide chain sector, Gard has intensive expertise in constructing and deploying know-how to boost conventional transportation fashions. Reporting to ACBL CEO Mike Ellis, he could have P&L accountability for the corporate’s Interchange & Logistics enterprise whereas main a digital transformation of the corporate’s logistics competencies (boat & barge optimization, community efficiency, dispatch operations, and so forth.).

Gard’s profession contains holding positions at U.S. Xpress, Inc. (NYSE: USX) and Coyote Logistics, a UPS Company (NYSE: UPS). At U.S. Xpress, Gard served in variety of government management positions, together with chief know-how officer and president of the corporate’s technology-enabled freight brokerage platform, Xpress Technologies. At Coyote, Gard served as senior vp and head of Europe, main the corporate’s entry and speedy scale-up within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) area, following varied senior management positions inside Coyote’s North American enterprise.

Gard holds a B.A. in economics (honors) and environmental research from Lake Forest College and accomplished his MBA research at INSEAD.
