APM Terminals Acquires Full Ownership of Grup Maritim TCB

APM Terminals, the port and terminal working arm of Denmark’s Maersk Group, has agreed to buy full possession of Barcelona-based Grup Maritim TCB and its maritime companies’ container terminal portfolio in Europe and Latin America.

The deal, with a transaction US $1 billion, contains of the remaining 39% of shares of Grup Maritim TCB from mother or father firm Perez y Cia. APM Termainals beforehand acquired 61% of Grup Maritim TCB from Perez y Cia in September.

The Grup Maritim TCB portfolio contains 11 container terminals with an annual throughput capability of 4.3 million TEUs and an estimated annual container quantity of three.5 million TEUs, rating twenty third within the 2014 amongst worldwide terminal working firms. The portfolio consists of Spanish container terminal concessions in Barcelona, Valencia and Castellon, on the Mediterranean coast, together with the concessions in Gijon, on the Bay of Biscay, and within the Canary Islands: Santa Cruz on Tenerife and Santa Cruz on La Palma. Outside of Spain, Grup Maritim TCB’s terminal operations embody Izmir, Turkey; Yucatan, Mexico; Quetzal, Guatemala (underneath building, opening 2016); Buenaventura, Colombia, on the Pacific Coast; and Paranagua, Brazil.

APM Terminals CEO Kim Fejfer stated “This 100% share agreement reflects a major milestone in paving the way for closing this deal and expanding our competitive offerings for our clients. The complementary expertise and market geography of the Grup Maritim TCB portfolio will enable us to bring more value to our clients, achieve our growth ambitions and further diversify our global portfolio.”

The transaction is anticipated to shut within the first quarter of 2016.

This newest portfolio enlargement of the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network will increase the variety of working amenities to 74, in 40 international locations throughout 5 continents.
