
Asia-Europe Container Freight Rates Drops 28 Percent
COPENHAGEN, Nov 20 (Reuters) – Shipping freight charges for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe plunged by 27.9 p.c to $295 per 20-foot container (TEU) within the week ending on Friday, one supply with entry to knowledge from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index informed Reuters.
The drop got here after spot freight charges on the world’s busiest route dropped 39.3 p.c final week, and the present charges are broadly seen as loss-making ranges for container transport corporations.

In the week to Friday, container freight charges fell 22.5 p.c from Asia to ports within the Mediterranean, dropped 8.6 p.c to ports on the U.S. West Coast and had been down 8.0 p.c to ports on the U.S. East Coast.
Maersk Line, the worldwide market chief with greater than 600 container vessels and a part of Danish oil and transport group A.P. Moller-Maersk, earlier in November reported a 61 p.c drop in web revenue within the third quarter.
