
Baltic Dry Index Hits Highest Level Since November 2014
March 27 (Reuters)– The Baltic Exchange’s major sea products index, monitoring prices for ships lugging completely dry mass assets, struck a greater than two-year high up on Monday on greater need for bigger vessels.
The general index, which consider prices for capesize, panamax, supramax as well as handysize delivery vessels, touched its highest degree given that November 2014. The index was up 42 factors, or 3.39 percent, at 1,282 factors.
The capesize index acquired 138 factors, or 5.56 percent, at 2,620 factors.
Average everyday incomes for capesizes, which commonly move 150,000-tonne freights such as iron ore as well as coal, were up $1,188 to $19,266.
The panamax index was up 35 factors, or 2.87 percent, at 1,253 factors.
Average everyday incomes for panamaxes, which generally bring coal or grain freights of concerning 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes, raised $280 to $10,066.
