BYD’s first chartered automobile provider has set sail from China’s southern metropolis of Shenzhen, carrying greater than 5,000 electrical autos to Europe, state media Xinhua reported on Tuesday.
Chinese automakers together with BYD, Chery Automobile and SAIC Motor, have been inserting orders for vessels to counter rising delivery prices as they increase exports.
The new roll-on, roll-off automobile provider named “BYD Explorer No.1” departed on Monday for Flushing Port within the Netherlands and the German port of Bremerhaven, Xinhua mentioned.
The vessel was constructed by Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard for Zodiac Maritime, Xinhua added. Zodiac Maritime is a London-headquartered worldwide ship-management firm owned by Israel’s Ofer household.
China exported 5.2 million autos in 2023, estimated to have overtaken Japan because the world’s largest auto exporter.
BYD exported about 243,000 automobiles out of its whole gross sales of three million autos in 2023, with Australia, Brazil and Israel amongst its largest abroad markets, information from the China Passenger Car Association confirmed.
