
Canadian Coast Guard Ship Taking On Water Off Newfoundland
A Canadian Coast Guard buoy tender is taking up water after working aground off the southern coast of Newfoundland.
Joint Task Force Atlantic stories that it has despatched two Canadian Coast Guard ships – CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent and CCGS Teleost – and three helicopters to help the CCGS Ann Harvey, which was taking up water after working aground close to Burgeo, NL.
The rescue is being coordinated by JRCC Halifax and the Canadian Coast Guard. The HMCS Charlottetown was additionally despatched from Halifax to help.
The CCGS Ann Harvey was inbuilt 1987 and is used for buoy tending, search and rescue and icebreaking within the Newfoundland and Labrador Region. The vessel can accommodate 47 folks, together with 24 full-time crew.
