French hospitality large Accor S.A. has signed a letter of intent with Chantiers de l’Atlantique protecting the development of two very giant luxurious crusing cruise yachts. The shipbuilder says “the order will be signed within a few weeks” and that the primary ship, the Orient Express Silenseas, will likely be delivered in March 2026 and the second on September 1, 2027.

With a size of 220 meters, it’s claimed the Orient Express Silenseas would be the largest crusing vessel on the earth. It will characteristic 54 suites measuring on common 70-square-meters, and together with a monumental 1,415 square-meter presidential suite (together with a 530-square meter non-public terrace). Other facilities will embrace a marina, two swimming swimming pools together with a lap pool, two eating places, a speakeasy bar and a cabaret bar.

The vessel will characteristic three of the SolidSail inflexible sails developed particularly for giant vessels by Chantiers de l’Atlantique. As we reported on the time, the SolidSail obtained Bureau Veritas Approval in Principle final yr,

Is this the proper sail resolution for cruise ships?

With a floor space of 1,500 meters every, the SolidSails will likely be hoisted on balestron rigs on three tilting masts reaching greater than 100 meters excessive. They will present as much as 100% of the vessel’s propulsion energy in appropriate climate situations. They are a part of a hybrid energy resolution that can mix wind energy with a state-of-the-art engine operating on liquefied pure fuel (LNG), with plans to make use of inexperienced hydrogen, as soon as the know-how is permitted for ocean passenger ships.

“With a signed letter of intent to order two ships, Chantiers de l’Atlantique is proud to herald a new era in the shipbuilding industry with Orient Expres Silenseas,” says Laurent Castaing, managing director, Chantiers de l’Atlantique. “This idea, born in our design places of work in 2018, is the quintessence of our savoir-faire within the fields of naval structure, the development of refined hulls, in addition to the design of luxurious areas. In addition, the set up of three SolidSail rigs, a revolutionary 1,500 sq. meter per unit wind propulsion system, for which we’ve got developed and examined a primary prototype, will contribute considerably to the propulsion of the ship. Combined with a hybrid propulsion system operating on liquefied pure fuel (LNG), Silenseas will thus change into the ship of reference by way of environmentally-friendly operation and design. “

“With Orient Express Silenseas, we are beginning a new chapter in our history, taking the experience and excellence of luxury travel and transposing it onto the world’s most beautiful seas,” says Sébastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of Accor. “This exceptional sailing yacht, with roots in Orient Express’ history, will offer unparalleled service and refined design spaces, reminiscent of the golden age of mythical cruises.”

Accor owns the Orient Express commerce mark and the Orient Express Silensea is designed as a tribute to each the legendary practice and to the equally legendary liner Normandy. Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique within the thirties, it was at the moment the most important liner on the earth, essentially the most trendy, essentially the most luxurious, and in addition the speediest, successful the Blue Riband for the quickest transatlantic liner crossing in 1935. As for the Orient Express practice, Accor is engaged on restoration of the original carriages with plans for an enormous announcement in 2025
