Classic Video: Legendary Pilot Used to Dive Off Ships, Swim Back to Shore
Apparently this man was an area legend down in Brazil.
He was recognized across the port of Aracaju as Zé Peixe, or Joe Fish, aka the swimming pilot. He spent his profession guiding ships into and out of port, and as typically as he might he would sneak away to leap from the ship’s bridge, then swim again to shore. The video uploader says the man by no means showered or drank contemporary water, swam over 6 miles per day, and jumped from heights of 40 meters. He even has his personal wikipedia page, which identifies him as José Martins Ribeiro Nunes (1927 – 2012). RIP Joe Fish.
