Crew Evacuated from Fugro Offshore Survey After Fire
Firefighters in Scotland labored in a single day to extinguish a blaze aboard a Fugro offshore survey vessel whereas docked at Peterhead Port, north of Aberdeen.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service says that the fireplace was reported at about 2:50 a.m. aboard the Fugro Symphony, a objective constructed ROV intervention, mild development and survey vessel. The fireplace was attended by crews from Peterhead, Maud and Ellon fireplace stations.
BBC reviews that 84 crewmembers had been evacuated from the vessel. An announcement from Fugro mentioned that “as a precaution, all non-essential personnel onboard were immediately evacuated from the vessel.”
The supply of the fireplace was discovered to be within the provide generator room beneath deck, the Fire Rescue Service mentioned.
Station Manager Graeme Laird mentioned: “Crews worked well with the ship’s firefighting team and showed good firefighting understanding in challenging conditions. The ship’s firefighting team provided us with the information we needed to deal with the fire appropriately.”
The fireplace was extinguished and fireplace crews left the scene inside about 2 hours.
There had been no accidents reported.
