ASD 2411 damen tugs tugboats Brake Perfect Prompt

Lutgens und Reimers (L&R), the Hamburg-based subsidiary of German towage providers supplier URAG has simply taken supply of two azimuth stern drive (ASD) 2411 tugboats, Brake and Perfect on 19 March.  These 70 ton bollard pull vessels are sisters to the Prompt, which was delivered to L&R in 2013 by Damen Shipyards’ companion yard Song Thu, in Vietnam.

Damen says the order for the tugs was positioned in September 2014 and word the 2 vessels characteristic further thick plate and additional brackets and fendering to make sure most sturdiness.

URAG’s Michael Staufeldt notes these tugs started operations virtually instant upon supply and are supporting round 18 to twenty jobs per day. “They are really being tested,” says Staufeldt.  “The crews are very enthusiastic about the new arrivals given their positive experiences with Prompt, and are looking forward to optimising them for their specific duties.”

Together the three vessels now signify the core fleet of L&R in Hamburg.

“The ASD 2411 tugs are ideal for our purposes,” added Michael Staufeldt. “The designs are well proven yet incorporate the latest technology, they are easy and economical to operate as well as to maintain, and the bridge layout of this new generation model is excellent.”
