Belgium’s DEME Group experiences that its DEME Offshore US subsidiary has been awarded a “substantial” contract for the transportation and set up of inter-array cables for the Empire Wind 1 and a couple of offshore wind farms.
DEME says the contract is “substantial” and that DEME Offshore US shall be chargeable for the transport and set up of the inter-array cables, which have a complete size of over 350 kilometers (217 miles).
The set up works shall be carried out by a cable set up vessel from the DEME fleet in two campaigns. Currently the corporate operates the state-of-the-art cable set up vessel Living Stone and this shall be joined by a second DP3 cable set up vessel Viking Neptun in first quarter 2023.
Empire Wind 1 and a couple of are being developed by a 50-50 partnership between Equinor and bp. Equinor would be the operator by means of the event, development, and operations phases of the tasks.
