Danish vessel proprietor Esvagt has secured a service contract with Vestas for Ecowende’s Hollandse Kust (west) offshore wind farm within the Netherlands, and began the method of designing and constructing the brand new service operation vessel (SOV).
The newbuild would be the sixth purpose-built SOV for Vestas, reaffirming the partnership between the 2 firms which have been cooperating since 2010.
The Hollandse Kust (west), developed by Ecowende – a three way partnership between Shell and Eneco, will include 52 offshore wind generators with a mixed capability of over 760MW. The 15 MW generators can be provided by Vestas.
The new wind farm can be commissioned in 2026. Esvagt and Vestas have agreed a 15-year contract with extension choices, which is aligned with Vestas’ service contract for EcoWende to make sure the optimum efficiency of the generators.
“Esvagt and Vestas share an extensive history since the earliest days of offshore wind, and Vestas has been one of our key partners in developing and refining our SOV concept,” stated Søren Karas, Esvagt’s Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer.
The Ecowende wind farm adheres to a number of non-price standards from the Dutch authorities, together with the creation of a hen hall inside the wind farm format, growing the hub top to create extra vertical area for birds in addition to integrating hen and bat detection and deterrence methods into the turbine design.
The wind farm can be constructed roughly 53 kilometres off the Dutch coast, close to IJmuiden.
