First Photos and Video of El Faro Wreckage Released by NTSB
The National Transportation Safety Board has launched the primary pictures and video of the wreckage of the sunken El Faro as a part of its investigation into the sinking of the American cargo ship close to Bermuda in October.
The U.S.-flagged ship, owned by Sea Star Line, LLC and operated by TOTE Services, went lacking on October 1 throughout Hurricane Joaquin. The ship was situated by a salvage crew aboard the U.S. Navy tug Apache on October 31 in about 15,000 toes of water within the neighborhood of its final identified place close to Crooked Island, Bahamas.
The wreck, found in an upright place with the strict buried in roughly 30 toes of sediment, was discovered with navigation bridge and the deck under indifferent from the vessel. The bridge was finally situated with the ship’s voyage information recorder lacking.
Twenty-eight US crewmembers and 5 Polish employees have been on board.
The new photos and video are pare of the NTSB’s accident docket launched Sunday. The materials contains 9 underwater pictures and greater than 47 minutes of video from the CURV-21, a remotely operated car used to doc the wreckage and particles subject.
