Giant Goliat FPSO Sets Off for World’s Longest Piggyback Ride [VIDEO]
ENI’s Goliat FPSO, sitting atop the world’s largest heavy carry vessel Dockwise Vanguard, has simply begun its 60-day voyage from Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea to Norway. At 64,000 tons and measuring 112 meters in diameter by 75 meters tall, the Goliat FPSO is the world’s largest cylindrical floating manufacturing, storage and offloading unit.
The FPSO will probably be put in within the Goliat discipline within the Barents Sea, 85 km northwest of Hammerfest, with start-up anticipated by mid-2015.
The following video, produced by News on Request AS for ENI Norge, exhibits the loadout of this large construction aboard the Dockwise Vanguard.
With the 490-meter-long H-Dock, particularly designed to construct mega-sized offshore amenities and the 2 1,600 ton gantry cranes at its Ulsan offshore yard, Hyundai Heavy Indsutries has constructed 9 over-two-million-barrel FPSOs so far, which accounts to about 60% of the world’s market share, in line with HHI.
