The Seamen’s Church Institute is North America’s largest mariner and seafarer welfare group. Founded in 1834 in New York City, SCI started its work alongside the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico in 1997.

SCI’s Ministry on the River at the moment employs two full-time river chaplains alongside the Upper and Lower Mississippi (with a 3rd chaplain arriving quickly in Houston) and an expansive community of chaplain associates alongside your entire river system to shortly meet the humanitarian, religious, and disaster wants of boat crews and particular person mariners wherever they’re of their journey.
