Italian Shipping Companies Called Out Over Beaching Practices
Responsible shipbreaking advocacy group NGO Shipbreaking Platform has referred to as out three Italian delivery over their supposed continued use of South Asian beaching yards and is urging they take fast motion to make sure the sustainable recycling of their end-of-life fleet.
The Platform has despatched letters to the Italian ship house owners Grimaldi Group, Ignazio Messina and Vittorio Bogazzi & Figli in addition to the Italian Shipowners’ Association inviting them to provoke a constructive dialogue with the NGO.
According to the Platform, the delivery corporations have continued to irresponsibly promote their vessels to shipbreaking yards which are globally acknowledged to not respect primary human rights and environmental safety requirements. Since 2009, the three firm’s have offered fifty-four end-of-life ships to South Asian beaching yards for substandard breaking, the group stated.

The Platform famous that Grimaldi Group has already responded to the letter, acknowledging the significance of correct ship recycling and thanking the group for bringing the difficulty to their consideration.
