MARAD Has $900,000 Available for LNG Conversion Project
The U.S. Maritime Administration says it has $900,000 in federal funding out there to assist the conversion of current U.S. flag vessels to liquified pure fuel propulsion.
The administration says it’s accepting proposals from U.S. ship house owners, operators and public sponsors via May 7, 2015.
Recipients of the funding will assist drive analysis and assess the general public good thing about attainable incentives to encourage adoption of emission decreasing applied sciences, particularly using LNG instead gas.
On Sunday, General Dynamics NASSCO launched the world’s first LNG-powered containership, Isla Bella, being constructed for TOTE Inc. In September 2014, TOTE acquired $324.6 million Title XI mortgage assure from MARAD to assist fund the Isla Bella and its Marlin class sister ship.
