Mitsui O.S.Okay. Line (MOL) has taken supply of the newly constructed dual-fuel LGP and ammonia very giant fuel service (VLGC) Aquamarine Progress II, which is able to sail below constitution with a Japanese LPG importer and distributor.
Ordered by MOL’s firm Aramo Shipping (Singapore), the Aquamarine Progress II has been delivered by Namura Shipbuilding.
The Aquamarine Progress II will sail below a time constitution contract with GYXIS Corporation, a Japanese LPG importer and distributor.
The vessel is 230 meters lengthy, with the breadth of 36.6 meters. The capability of its cargo tank is 87,119.30 m3.
The Aquamarine Progress II can run on both LPG or typical heavy oil, and when LPG is used as gasoline, CO2 emissions will be lowered by about 20% and sulfur oxides (SOx,) particulate matter by about 90% in comparison with heavy oil.
In addition, the specs enable for the transport of ammonia in addition to LPG. Ammonia, which emits no carbon dioxide throughout combustion, is anticipated to extend in demand sooner or later as a next-generation clear power supply.
The naming ceremony was held on March 12, 2024, on the Imari Works of Namura Shipbuilding, and the vessel was named by GYXIS President and Representative Director Keiji Tanaka.
