The U.S. Navy accepted supply of the next-generation touchdown craft, Ship to Shore Connector (SSC), Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) 106 on November 17.
LCAC 106’s supply follows the completion of acceptance trials with the Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey to check the readiness and functionality of the craft and to validate necessities.
“We are excited to deliver this next generation craft to the Navy and Marine Corps team,” mentioned Capt. Jason Grabelle, program supervisor, Amphibious Assault and Connectors Programs, Program Executive Office (PEO) Ships. ”LCACs are offering our Navy and companions with the velocity and agility important to our missions.”
SSCs are constructed with similar configurations, dimensions, and clearances to the legacy LCAC, making certain the compatibility of this next-generation air cushion car with current nicely deck-equipped amphibious ships.
The LCAC program is in serial manufacturing, with an extra 11 craft at present being constructed at Textron Systems.
