Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding department held a keel verification event today for the Virginia- course strike submarine New Jersey (SSN 796).
Susan DiMarco other half of previous Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, is the ship’s enroller. She chalked her initials onto a steel plate. Shipbuilder Jess Batruk, that is initially from New Jersey, after that mapped the initials with a soldering iron, representing the keel of SSN 796 as being “truly and fairly laid.”
