North Sea Lay-Ups Closing in on 100 Vessels
The variety of offshore vessels laid-up within the North Sea now stands at 93 and it appears new vessels are being stacked virtually each day, in keeping with information by Westshore Shipbrokers.
According to the agency, there are at the moment 93 whole vessels laid up at ports within the UK and Norway. The record is comprised of 26 anchor dealing with tugs (AHTSs), 63 platform provide vessels (PSVs), and 4 multi-purpose provide vessel (MPSVs).
So far in November, eleven vessels have been added to the record, together with 6 AHTSs and 5 PSVs. The newest vessels to be laid up are the AHTSs Olympic Octopus and Olympic Poseidon and the PSV FS Taurus.
The lay-ups come amid the extended stoop in oil costs that has weakened the offshore market throughout the globe.
