
Philly Shipyard, Inc. (PSI) reviews that it has reached a definitive settlement that may see it switch operations of its Prime Plate Facilty to Avalotis Industrial Services (AIS), an affiliate of Avalotis Corporation.
The metal blasting and priming facility is positioned outdoors the shipyard fence-line within the Philadelphia Navy Yard enterprise park. Effective February 1, 2023, AIS will assume full operational management of this facility whereas servicing all of Philly Shipyard’s plate priming necessities for its shipbuilding, restore, and miscellaneous fabrication actions.
The facility receives plates from the metal mill, after which shot blasts and primes them with a weldable zinc primer, often known as a pre-construction primer. The cycle takes place in an indoor managed setting for correct floor preparation.
