Photos: Zumwalt Returns from Snowy Sea Trials
The future guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) returned from Atlantic Ocean on Thursday after finishing its second spherical of sea trials off the coast of Maine.
These pictures, taken by Dave Cleaveland from MaineImaging.com, present the destroyer’s arrival on the mouth of the Kennebec River close to Portland.
The ship departed for builder’s trials from Bath Iron Works shipyard in Bath, Maine, positioned simply up the Kennebec, on Monday. The Navy mentioned that throughout the trials most of the ship’s key programs and applied sciences can be demonstrated.
