Pirates Kidnap Eleven Crew from Dutch Cargo Ship Off Nigeria

Suspected pirates abducted twelve team participants from a Dutch freight ship off the coastline of Nigeria on Saturday, the ship supervisor verified on Sunday.

The assault took place very early Saturday early morning as the vessel was nearing port of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The ship proprietor, ForestWave Navigation, verified Monday that 12 of 14 team participants aboard their basic freight ship FWN Rapide were drawn from the vessel. The 2 continuing to be team participants are reported secure.

In an earlier declaration, ForestWave claimed it has actually turned on an emergency situation action group and also they are keeping track of the circumstance exceptionally very closely.

“We are currently in close contact with the authorities and taking professional advice in order to secure the earliest release of those that are currently being held,” ForestWave claimed. “Together with our local representatives in the countries of origin of our valued seafarers we are keeping the families of the FWN Rapide crew informed about the situation.”

“ForestWave will not be providing any further information in order not to jeopardise the safety of those involved,” the firm included.

AIS ship monitoring information revealed the FWN Rapide as cruising from Takoradi, Ghana to Bonny, Nigeria when the assault happened.
