
Port of Long Beach: May Was Busiest Month Since 2007
Cargo rose on the Port of Long Beach by 6 % in May, the third consecutive month of development, the busiest month since October 2007, and the busiest May since 2006.
A complete of 635,250 TEUs (twenty-foot equal models) of containerized cargo have been moved by the Port in May. Imports numbered 327,317 TEUs, a 4.8 % enhance from the identical month final 12 months. Exports decreased 7.4 % to 135,855 TEUs. Empty containers rose 22.6 % to 172,078 TEUs. With imports exceeding exports, empty containers are despatched abroad to be refilled with items.
Cargo quantity is up partly because of a stronger retail market. The Port can be attracting new providers with a view to enhance cargo development.
