Port of Los Angeles Reports Best Month of 2020
The Port of Los Angeles states it saw its busiest month thus far this year in July as stores replenish supplies in advance of the holiday.
The port claimed its 856,389 TEUs in July, tracking in 2014’s record-setting July by 6.1%.
“Fewer canceled sailings and 11 additional ‘ad hoc’ or unscheduled ship calls helped drive both imports and exports higher than recent months but still short of last July’s all-time record,” claimed Port ofLos Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka “Preliminary data for August indicates solid volumes as retailers continue restocking inventories and preparing for the year-end holiday season.”
July crammed imports lowered 4.3% to 456,029 TEUs contrasted to the previous year. Loaded exports went down 21.7% to 126,354 TEUs. Empty containers decreased 0.1% to 274,007 TEUs.
