The United States Army Corps of Engineers managed the mission. Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company LLC was the contractor chosen for the dredging of PortMiami’s channel, which started in August 2013.

The dredging mission was set to coincide with the completion of Panama Canal growth mission, which is now pushed again to April 2016 on the earliest.
