Earlier this week, Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Carlos Del Toro together with U.S. Representatives Rob Menendez and Mikie Sherrill visited to Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Corp. (BDD).

As the U.S. locations renewed emphasis on navy shipbuilding and ship restore, the SECNAV has made it some extent to go to to naval bases, shipyards, depots, coaching ranges, tarmacs, and runways worldwide to witnessed firsthand the progress being made towards bettering coaching, readiness, and modernization of the fleet and pressure.

BDD has supplied restore providers to vessels starting from small tugboats to U.S. Navy ships for over 20 years.

This spring, BDD used its new Mobile Boat Hauler (MBH) to hoist the US Coast Guard vessel William Tate. The William Tate is a 175-ft. Keeper Class Cutter homeported in Philadelphia, Pa. The venture was Bayonne Drydock’s first full drydocking package deal with the United States Coast Guard achieved utilizing the MBH. The scope of labor included a full preservation package deal, set up of a brand new deck protecting system, and Bow Thruster overhaul.

The William Tate drydocking  was accomplished on time and on price range whereas work proceeded on the USNS Watkins, US Army Corp of Engineers Hayward, and several other different business tasks. Bayonne Drydock can now present full drydocking providers to eight vessels at any given time using the MBH’s 4-acre laydown space. The facility can also be dwelling to a 1,092-ft. Graving Dock and 1600-ft. of pier house, the place the USNS Watkins repairs had been carried out.

Bayonne Drydock is presently scheduled to start our subsequent venture with the US Coast Guard in August, hauling the 154’ Sentinel Class Cutter Angela Mcshan.
