Ship Photos of the Day – ‘Abeille Bourbon’ Battles Heavy Seas in Raz de Sein
New images and video from the French Navy exhibits the emergency towing vessel Abeille Bourbon underway in heavy seas off Brittany, France. These images had been taken January twelfth within the Raz de Sein, a passage on the northern tip of the Bay of Biscay that’s infamous for its violent seas and robust currents.
The 80-meter, 200t bollard pull Abeille Bourbon is a multi-purpose salvage and stand-by security vessel outfitted for emergency towing, salvage and hearth preventing. The ship, primarily based in Brest, France, is owned by French shipowner Groupe Bourbon and on long-term constitution to the French Navy (Marine Nationale).
