Singapore Condemns Tanker Shooting Incident Off Iran
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has expressed “deep concern” with the alleged taking pictures incident involving the Singapore-flagged tanker “Alpine Eternity” final week within the Strait of Hormuz. The MPA notes that “such interference with navigational rights is a serious violation of international law” and known as for an investigation by Iranian authorities into the incident.
Commenting on the earlier allision between the tanker and a Persian Gulf oil platform in March, the MPA notes the ship supervisor, Transpetrol Ship Management Pte Ltd, had reported the incident to MPA on 23 March, and s the Flag Administration of Alpine Eternity, MPA had “immediately commenced a marine safety investigation into the incident in accordance with the International Maritime Organization’s Casualty Investigation Code, and the investigation is still in progress.”
