Svitzer Inks Major Towage Deal in China
Svitzer signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Guangzhou Port Group to create a towage and marine providers three way partnership for the world’s fifth largest port.
Port of Guangzhou is the principle seaport in Guangdong province, China, with greater than 100 vessel calls a day.
If shaped, the three way partnership will present towage and associated marine providers throughout the Guangzhou port with three tugs starting from 5200HP to 6800HP.
Svitzer, a world supplier of towage and emergency response, has a fleet of greater than 400 vessels, masking some 40 nations.
“Combining the strengths of Guangzhou Port and Svitzer is an important first step for further cooperation in China and abroad. Entering the world’s 5th largest port would be essential in Svitzer’s growth journey in Asia,” acknowledged Alan Bradley, regional managing director of Asia.
