At least two individuals have been killed in what has been described as a big explosion aboard an inland tanker berthed in Duisburg, Germany.

Local media reviews says the blast occurred Thursday morning aboard the German-flagged MT Julius Rütgers on the Meiderich shipyard.

The our bodies of two staff have been recovered and authorities have been looking for a 3rd lacking employee.

Photos of video of the aftermath present that the explosion occurred within the ahead a part of ship, inflicting flames and thick black smoke that could possibly be seen for miles.

The explanation for the investigation has not been decided, reviews say.
