By David Lerman
(Bloomberg) — The U.S. Navy has stopped accompanying U.S.- flagged ships by means of the Strait of Hormuz, ending a mission that started final week after Iran’s seizure of a cargo ship.
The Navy ended the operation Tuesday, however its ships stay within the space conducting maritime operations, Army Colonel Steve Warren, a Defense Department spokesman, advised reporters Wednesday on the Pentagon.
A U.S. destroyer continues to watch the seized cargo ship, the MV Maersk Tigris, which flies the flag of the Marshall Islands, Warren stated.
