Uzmar Shipyard in Istanbul, Turkey has launched a first-of-its-kind tractor tug for Turkish operator BOTAS.
The vessel, named the Sultanhani, was launched on February 27 because the world’s first Voith propelled tractor tug with liquefied pure fuel (LNG) twin gasoline propulsion. It is the primary of two hulls being constructed for BOTAS to Robert Allan Ltd.’s TRAktor V3900-DF design.
The TRAktor V3900-DF builds on Robert Allan Ltd.’s expertise designing each Voith tractor tugs and LNG twin gasoline tugs. It combines the wonderful manoeuvrability and reliability of Voith propulsion in a greener envelope the place the tug can function on both diesel oil or LNG. Even when working on diesel oil alone emissions are decreased with an IMO Tier III after-treatment set up. Due to the ahead location of the VSP models the LNG tank maintain is situated aft of the engine room, offering separation of the fuel system and any related hazardous areas from the lodging block.
