Denmark’s NCT Offshore has awarded Fincantieri’s Norwegian-headquartered Vard subsidiary a contract for a 95 meter lengthy subsea cable laying vessel with a cable carousel capability of 4,500 tonnes.

The vessel is an upgraded model of the VARD 9 01 design and has been designed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway, in shut collaboration with NCT Offshore, with a serious give attention to sea-keeping capabilities, station preserving performances and low gasoline consumption.

The hull can be constructed at Vard Tulcea in Romania, whereas the ultimate outfitting, commissioning and supply can be carried out by one in all Vard’s shipyards in Norway.

The vessel is fitted with two foremost cable tanks, T-ROV hangar, walk-to-work system, is ready for a big A-frame and gives single-cabin lodging for 60 individuals.

Hybrid package deal

For improved sustainability the vessel can be outfitted with an entire Vard Electro SeaQ power and control package, encompassing batteries, switchboards, and shore connection, permitting for discount in gasoline consumption and elevated operability. All this can be operated from a SeaQ bridge with give attention to ease of operation, security, and ergonomics.

The cable layer is scheduled for supply in fourth quarter 2024.
