Transport Canada is to examine a crash in which 2 vessels clashed while transiting Canada’s Welland Canal, in contrary instructions, this past Saturday.
YouTube video clip captured the case in which the Florence Spirit, an 8,935 dwt, McKeil Marine ran, Canadian- flag, basic freight ship hit the 12,744 dwt basic freight ship Alanis, run by German based Rambow Reederei and also flying the flag of Antigua and also Barbuda.
Florence Spirit was heading down the canal, the MV Alanis was directing.
The Welland Tribune quotes Jean Aubry-Morin, vice head of state of outside connections at the Seaway Management Corp, as stating that the accident occurred at 3:55 p.m. southern of Port Robinson which both clashed starboard side to starboard side.
“Normally, they would be passing port side to port side,” the paper estimates him as stating.
