Wärtsilä to Design New Offshore Maintenance Jack-Up
Helsinki-headquartered Wärtsilä says it has been awarded a contract to design a brand new collection of jack-up vessels to serve upkeep vessels within the offshore oil and gasoline.
The firm introduced Tuesday it had signed the contract in March with a well-known Chinese yard. The new design will probably be developed by Wärtsilä Ship Design in collaboration with Altis, a consultancy firm specialising within the carry boat market. The contract consists of choices for 3 extra vessels.
The carry boat design will probably be self-propelled and supply an offshore elevating platform with maneuvering capabilities to assist varied operations, together with oil properly intervention actions, and the upkeep, repairs, upgrades and elimination of offshore rigs. Wärtsilä says that this newest design gives higher efficiency in comparison with standard designs, with enhancements on crane capability, MLC (Maritime Labour Convention) compliance, lodging, operational water depth, and DP2 (Dynamic Positioning).

The 70.5 meter lengthy vessel can accommodate 250 folks and will probably be able to working in water depths of as much as 75 meters. It is scheduled for supply to the shopper in September, 2017.
