Wärtsilä to Equip Four LNG Carriers with LNG Reliquefaction and Gas Handling Systems
Finnish engine producer and all-around energy options supplier Wärtsilä introduced Wednesday that it’ll equip 4 LNG carriers being in-built China with LNG reliquefaction vegetation and fuel dealing with programs, marking a “significant breakthrough” into the Chinese market, the corporate says.
The collection of 4 LNG carriers are being constructed by the Hudong-Zhongua Shipbuilding yard in China and are owned by Bermuda based mostly Teekay Corporation, China LNG Shipping (CLNG), CNOOC Energy Technology Co of China, and BW Gas of Norway. The contracts with Wärtsilä have been issued by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and have been signed in the course of the fourth quarter.
Wärtsilä says the LNG reliquefaction vegetation and fuel dealing with programs will present the homeowners with each econimic and technical advantages. The reliquefaction plant will reliquefy 70% of the boil-off fuel from the ships’ LNG cargo and return it to the cargo tanks, whereas the steadiness is fed by the fuel dealing with system to the engines for propulsion functions, in accordance with Wärtsilä.
